Exploration
The majority of exploration work within the Tocantins Joint Venture to date has focused around the Conceição tenements, located in the southern portion of the greenstone belt. The initial focus for Mundo Minerals’ geological team was a soil anomaly with a footprint extending over a strike length of approximately 3 kilometres.
Initial RAB drilling identified strongly two anomalous regions on the tenements with assay values consistently in excess of 1 g/t Au (assays delivered through RAB drilling in excess of 0.5g/t Au are considered significant).
Major exploration activity has been focussed on the central anomaly at Conceição, which has a strike length in excess of 1.2 km. Diamond drilling was utilized to determine the structural characteristics associated with gold mineralization.
Significantly, visible gold has been returned in eight individual drill cores from the diamond drilling completed to date. Recent data review indicates that the mineralization occurs in several north-west plunging pipe-like bodies with mineralization occurring within 30-50 meters of the surface.
Due to the shallow nature of the mineralization, it is expected that any mine development will initially be achieved through open pit mining.
The next phase of exploration at Conceição will be focused on developing a JORC-Code compliant resource that will form the basis for a Feasibility Study.

Regional soil sampling has also been undertaken on the Nova Prata tenement in preparation for a planned drilling programme in 2009.
Results received for surface samples from the Espinheiro garimpo area at Nova Prata include values of 25.38g/t Au, 25.72g/t Au and 52.32g/t. Most of these samples are from narrow quartz veins exposed by garimpeiro activity, further enhancing the potential of the area to host bulk tonnage mineralization based on multiple narrow quartz veins.
