Processing
Initial trial stoping has been undertaken along the existing mine development at Torrecillas. This has enabled a small gold production profile to be developed. Mundo has reached agreement with an external treatment facility to toll treat this ore.
This low-tonnage mining activity is designed to test the effectiveness of different mining techniques on the narrow vein structures.
During 2008, Mundo Minerals undertook an assessment of mechanical ore sorting for the Torrecillas Project. This process may assist the logistics of a mining operation by facilitating a more significant proportion of bulk mining, thereby reducing the reliance on selective mining to reduce dilution.
Two initial tests of processing mined material using X-Ray ore sorters were undertaken during the 2008 financial year. Encouraging initial results were received, demonstrating that there is a strong visual separation; as a result, ore sorting will continue to be assessed as part of the logistical assessment of the Torrecillas Project.
